Applying for an almshouse

This page gives brief information about the process of applying for an almshouse. The links at the bottom lead to an information sheet which should be read before applying, and application forms. Applications can be made using either form – for online applications it is worth reading the pdf form form before using the online form as it will show you what information is needed from you. Applicants should give as much information as possible but all applications will be considered even if some information is not given. If we need more information from you we will ask.

WACT does not operate a first come first served ‘list’ of applicants but Trustees make a judgement about who is most suitably qualified from those that apply at the time of a vacancy using the rules of the Trust set out by the Charity Commission. We consider ALL applications and Trustees will arrange for applicants to visit the almshouses individually before any consideration of the merits of the applications. Trustees then collectively decide who to appoint based on anonymised summaries of the information given in the application forms together with information from visits. Successful applicants are then appointed as beneficiaries of WACT.
